At the foundation of Calvary Chapel Greeneville Through the Bible Home Groups is a strategic emphasis on Community and Care provided through the mechanism of smaller home fellowships for all those who wish to participate. We find a clear distinctive from the first century church that is rooted in these two objectives.

In Acts chapter 2, we read these words, “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…and all those who had believed and were together and had all things in common (Community) and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need” (Care).
Acts 2:42;44-45

Community- We believe that sustained life change occurs as we are growing in a relationship with Christ and that this happens best when we are prioritizing intentional relationships with others who are seeking this same goal. Effective home groups provide people with the opportunity to connect with others, grow in their relationship with Christ, and experience community.

Care- We believe that sustained life change occurs when we are providing for people’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Effective home groups provide the opportunity for those involved to minister to one another at the deepest level of need. Not only are needs met within the group, but needs are discovered and met in the church as a whole, in the community and in the world.

We are calling our pursuit of Community and Care, “Through the Bible Home Groups.” It is more than just a name because it communicates a desire to simply live life together as a body of believers. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
It is the mission of Home Groups to facilitate an environment that allows group members to experience abundant life to the maximum of their potential.
