The Children’s Ministry is a support ministry to families, whose purpose is to create an opportunity for families to follow Jesus Christ and become rooted in God’s Word.
Scripture – Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We take this command very seriously and strive to create that discipleship opportunity. We want to make little followers of Christ, who in turn grow up to be big followers of Him.
Commitment to Consider for all positions in Children’s Ministry:
- Enroll in the “Faith Foundations” class
- Must attend the Orientation and Training session, get fingerprinted and interview with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator.
- Must complete a ministry application form.
- A six month commitment is required.
- Must have a special love towards children and a desire to see them grow in all areas of their lives.
- Must be faithful, available, and teachable, living a life above reproach, representing your walk with God in your home, in your neighborhood, and at your job.
- Must adhere to dress code (Official Children’s Ministry shirt – cost $7, khakis or jeans, nice longer shorts, longer skirts and comfortable shoes) tight-fitting clothes are not acceptable.
Opportunities to serve:
Nursery/Toddlers – as a Nursery volunteer, you will assist in providing a safe environment along with the basic needs of babies – three year olds.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to service to your area.
- Diapering, feeding, and playtime.
- Sharing the gift of God’s love through reassurance for the child and parent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Characterized as loving, patient, kind, gentle, and joyful as they deal with many “new” moms and dads that may be leaving their baby for the first time with someone other than a family member.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the area to include sanitizing toys, etc. handled each service.
- Utilize the sign-in/out board and wrist band system 100% of the time.
Hospitality Greeter/Runner- is the first face most people come in contact with when they visit the Children’s Ministry area.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to service to your area.
- To guide visitors to their proper check-in area. This area is staffed before and after service.
- Greeters should possess kindness, a joyful smile, and, of course, the gift of hospitality.
- Be available to inform media person of child’s number to flash on screen as needed.
Teacher’s Assistant- volunteer will assist the teacher in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to service to your area.
- To follow the leading of the classroom teacher.
- Help maintain cleanliness and order of the classroom and supplies.
- Utilize the sign-in/out system 100% of the time.
Classroom Teacher - preparing and participating in a Bible lesson that encourages the kids to grow in Christ and one who is able to teach children in a way they can understand. Lessons should be communicated with love, patience, kindness, and excitement. In addition, should be relatable and ready to apply the truth of God’s word to all situations of a child’s life.
Responsibilities:
- A believer for at least one year who has a proper understanding of the major stories and concepts in the Bible.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to service to your classroom. Have weekly supplies for the classroom ready.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the classroom and supplies.
- Utilize the check-in/out system 100% of the time.
