Proverbs 2:3-5—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

People all over seem to love to go to garage sales, flea markets, auctions and thrift stores. They love the hunt and sometimes the discovery of an item that is a hidden treasure amongst all the other items, that may not seem to have much value to the seller, yet has great value in the heart of the hunter.

God has given us a great look at how it is when one finds Salvation and God views His Kingdom. Matthew 13:44 – “The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.  When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

The Apostle Paul explains to us in Colossians 2:2-4 how that in knowing Christ we can understand His Word as He gives us wisdom and understanding. It says: My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and untied in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

Let us examine our hearts and see if we do indeed account having Jesus as our Lord and Savior a great and precious treasure. Do we find our joy in Him as we do when we hunt for earthly treasures?
