Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Have you ever stopped to thank God for something? Well most of us probably never think about giving thanks to God. Except for maybe on the holiday of Thanksgiving. Many times in the scriptures it talks about us giving thanks. Like in Hebrews 13:15 where it says therefore by him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. I know a lot of times we may not even realize just how much we have to give thanks for. Our friends and family. Our freedom to worship. For all the things God does for us such as keeping us safe and supplying all our needs. And most importantly for God’s love and forgiveness. Romans 5:8 God demonstrates his own love toward us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. The way I see it that is definitely something we should be giving thanks for everyday. Of course, it is easier to give thanks when our lives are going well. But as soon as trials befall us giving thanks just isn’t something we seem able to do. Yet even in times of trials we should still give thanks. Even if we don’t feel at that moment we have anything to be thankful for. Keep in mind what Philippians 4:6 says Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And in Colossians 1:12 it says giving thanks to the father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. So, have you said thanks to God today?
