“For all seek their own”Posted on January 5, 2012 for all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus There were plenty of people in Paul’s day that were not seeking the things of Christ but their own way, their own thing, their own plan, they had their own agenda and they were not in one accord with each other. Unfortunately, we see this today, there are plenty of selfish people out there who are active, busy, involved, but not truly seeking to to serve Christ. This is the opposite of love as love does not seek its’ own but love seeks the well being of others and places others first above self. The apostle Paul states in Colossians 3:1-4 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Jesus himself came not to do His will but the will of the Father, and he gave up self in order to seek the things of God and to provide salvation for all who would believe in Him. If Paul experienced people in ministry, people in the church that were not seeking the Lord but they were seeking their own interests, sadly enough we will also experience the same today, for this reason we all need to be seeking the things of Christ, trusting in Him, and being led by His Spirit. |
