Fellow SoldierPosted on January 19, 2012 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier… The Life of a Christian is likened to that of a soldier. The reason is we are in a battle, a spiritual battle, and we are fighting for the faith. The fight is a good fight and it is worth fighting for. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. Soldiers have to put up with hardships, and still have the right attitude. We will suffer troubles, have afflictions, we need to learn how to deal with them and not whine and complain about them. War is a hard thing to have to cope with but if we realize that the Christian life is a battle field and not a playground we will not be surprised when the battle rages against us. We are battling the forces of evil and hell in the demonic realm and we must be prepared to stand strong and to persevere. Ephesians 6:13-Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. A prepared soldier has proper equipment and training, he is trained to fight the battle, and when the battle comes he stays with it, perseveres through it, all the while maintaining a good attitude. Soldiers develop a bond after they have fought the battle and often times they have covered each other and protected each other. As a soldier of Christ we have been enlisted into the Lord’s army and the good thing about it is we have been promised the victory. But we still have to fight, and when we do fight, we do so by using the word of God which is the sword of truth. |
